A Qualitative Study on the Effects of Contraceptives on Sexual Life
Kontraseptiflerin Cinsel Yaşantıya Etkileri Üzerine Niteliksel Bir Çalışma

ÖZET
Amaç: Bu çalışma, kadınların kullandıkları kontraseptif yöntemlerin cinsel yaşantılarına olan etkilerini, yöntemin seçiminde ve kullanımını sürdürmede bunu göz önünde bulundurma durumlarını belirlemek amacıyla uygulanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu niteliksel araştırma çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 31 kadın ile yapılmıştır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak, derinlemesine görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Kadınlara; kontraseptif seçimine karar verme, yöntem seçiminde yöntemin cinsel yaşantı üzerindeki etkisini göz önünde bulundurma, kullanılan kontraseptif yöntemlerin cinsel yaşantıları üzerine etkisini belirlemeye yönelik sorular sorulmuştur. Her görüşme yaklaşık 35 ile 40 dakika sürmüştü. Kalitatif içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışma sonuçlarına göre; kontraseptif yöntemlerin her birinin farklı düzeylerde de olsa çiftlerin cinsel yaşantıları üzerinde etkiler yarattığı belirlenmiştir. Kadınlar en fazla takvim ve geri çekme yöntemlerinin, ardından OK ve rahim içi aracın cinsel yaşantılarını olumsuz olarak etkilediğini ifade etmişlerdir. Tüpligasyon yöntemini kullanan kadınlar cinsel yaşamlarının olumsuz olarak hiç etkilemediğini belirtmişlerdir. Kadınlar kullandıkları kontraseptif yöntemin gebelikten koruduğu sürece, cinsel yaşantıya olan etkisini daha geri plana atılabildiklerini ve buna katlandıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Sonuç: Kontraseptifler cinsel yaşantıyı değişik düzeylerde de olsa etkilemektedir. Sağlık personeli kontraseptiflere yönelik eğitim ve danışmanlık sırasında bu etkileri de çifte açıklayarak memnuniyetsizliğe bağlı yöntem bırakmanın önüne geçebilir.
ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of this research was determine the effects of the contraceptive methods used by the women on their sexual life, and whether they took this into account when selecting and deciding to continue the method. Material and Methods: For this qualitative study 31 women were interviewed who accepted participation constituted the study sample. Data were obtained in depth interview method by using semi-structure interview guide. The questions asked in the interview were on how the contraceptive method decision was made, effect of the method on their sexual life, and if these effects played a role on method selection. Each interview lasted approximately 35 to 40 minutes. A qualitative content analysis was performed. Results: The results of this study show that each method has some effect on the sexual life of the couple, albeit at various levels. Women declared that among the contraceptive methods, calender and withdrawal methods mostly affect their sexual life, while oral contraceptive and intrauterine device follow them. They also declared that tubligation method didn't effect their sexual life at all. Methods with a high degree of protection from pregnancy enabled pushing the effect on the sexual life to the background and made it more bearable by women. Conclusion: Contraceptives effect the sexual life, albeit at various levels. During the education and consultancy, health professionals can explain these effects to the couples and overcome their discontinuing a method because of dissatisfaction.
