ABSTRACT
In scientific papers, owing to the absence of any standardization, the greatest anxiety is associated with writing the authors' name. The scientific papers, besides announcing a new research to the readers, benefit to upgrading the authors named in published articles in academic enviroment. Authorship in scientific papers requires contributing substantially to development, writing and editing of the article. Everbody could contribute to the production of a scientific paper but it is neither possible nor desirable for everyone to be listed as an author. Although the criteria about what constitutes authorship has already been defined, due to there is no concensus on the contribution of authors on scientific papers even among the authors, this topic has been started to be discussed frequently. Many journals require written designation of contribution of each author, and signatures accepting responsibility for the manuscript and publish all these with the manuscript. In the process of the production of a scientific paper, the contribution of authors is composed of these sub-headings in chronological order: 1) Conception and hypothesis, 2) Review of literature, 3) Study design, 4) Conducting the study, 5) Recording data, 6) Analysis and interpretation of data, 7) Writing the article, 8) Editing, submitting and also revising the article in postsubmission period. As long as considering these sub-headings honestly, this process both allows to guarantee the efforts of each author and decreases negative ramification of inappropriate author inclusion such as the dilution of authors' efforts. This study discusses whether the contribution on scientific papers is countable with these subheadings and assists the importance of the contributions to be understood.
