ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the rates of tetanus, hepatitis B and rubella seropositivity in pregnants.Institution: Kırıkkale University Medical Faculty Obstetric and Gynecology Department, Kırıkkale.Materials and Method: A prospective study was planned. 157 pregnant women in their first trimester were admitted to study. Anti-tetanus antibodies, HbsAg, Anti-HBs and rubella Ig G antibodies were detected by enzim-linked immunosorbent assay system. The data were collected as mean ± Standard Deviation and % percentages and also pearson correction analysis was performed. Results: The seropositivity and seronegativity rates for tetanus were 64.6% and 34.4% respectively. Fifty eight point nine % of the patients stated that they were vaccined against tetanus at least one after 15 years of age. Serum concentrations of Rubella Ig G were adequate in 66.9% of the patients and negative in 33.1%. The seropositivity of HBsAg and Anti HBs was 4.9% and 26.4% respectively. Conclusion: In tetanus, hepatitis and rubella vaccination is possible so screening tests must be performed during preconception, pregnancy and postpartum. After screening tests necessary vaccination programs must be planned for preconception, pregnancy and postpartum periods.
