ABSTRACT
Objective: In a patient who was operated 3 and half years ago because of the ovarian mucinous cystadenoma, pseudomyxoma peritonei was determined during the second operation. We reviewed the literature for this case. Institution: Kartal Education and Research Hospital, İstanbul. Materials and Methods: A patient who have been operated 3 and half years ago for mucinous cystadenoma and have been undergone a total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingooopherectomy, appendectomy and omentum biopsy, and admitted to our clinic by abdominal pain. A second laparatomy was done for whole intraperitoneal collection. Results: Pseudomyxoma peritonei was determined in histopathological examination. We decided to found its origin. Conclusion: Generally, pseudomyxoma peritonei was seen by the rupture of mucinous cystadenoma, the metastasis or the dissemination in the peritoneal cavity. As in this case, it doesnt disseminate everytime. It can also be seen when the non ruptured ovarian or ovarian cyst exist.
