Direk gram boyama ile GV'in teşhisi klinisyenlerin işini kolaylaştırıcaktır. Kültür ile sonuçların doğrulanması gerekmeyecektir. Bizim bu çalışmamızda, hastanemizde gram boyamanın GV tanısındaki değeri vurgulanmıştır.
ABSTRACT
Objective: The diagnosis of Gardnerella Vaginalis (GV) by direct gram stained smear of vaginal discharge and determine to the prevelens of GV in our hospital. Institution: Turkish Healty and Therapy Foundation Medical Center. Material and Methods: 860 women were investigated, aged between 15-70 years old. A diagnosis of GV was made in study when four of the following characteristic were detected on gram stain 1. Presence of "clue" cells, 2. Presence of gram variable cocobasilli, 3. Absance or decresing of lactobasillus morphotype, 4. Low numbers white blood cells in vaginal discharge. Cultures for GV were plated on human blood agar. After 48 hours incubation, the plates were examined for colonies exhibiting difuse hemolysis. Results and Conclusion: Vaginal secretions of 860 women were examined. The diagnosis of GV by direct gram stained smears of vaginal discharge was evaluated in 108 consecutive patients (12.5%). Direct gram staining of smears should facilitate the diagnosis of GV for clinician with minimum need for confirmation by culture. The value of gram's stain alone for diagnosis of GV in our hospital is there by assesed.
