0.05). Jinekolojik kanserler tek grup olarak ele alındığında ise kontrol grubundan anlamlı farklılık gösterirken (p< 0.05) benign miyomu olan gruptan anlamlı farklılık göstermemiştir. Sonuç: Erken evre jinekolojik kanserlerin değerlendirilmesinde NSE'nin hiçbir klinik öneme haiz olmadığı buna karşın nonspesifik bir marker olan SSA'nın özellikle over kanserlerinin değerlendirilmesinde oldukça değerli, serviks kanserlerinde ise çok sınırlı düzeyde faydalı olabileceği düşünülmüştür. Objective: To investigate the importance of NSE (neuron spesific enolase) and SSA (serum sialic acid) in clinical evaluation of gynecologic malignancies. Institution: Dokuz Eylül University Medicine Faculty, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Department of Biochemistry. Material and Methods: Serum NSE and SSA levels were evaluated statistically by "analysis of variance" and "multipl range analysis" methods in all groups. For NSE no difference was found among the groups. The mean serum level of SSA was found to be highest in the ovarian cancer group and showed statistically significant difference than all other groups (p< 0.05). Despite the mean serum level of SSA in cervical cancer group was higher than the control group, this difference was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). Also the mean serum levels in endometrium cancer group and control group was not statistically different (p> 0.05). When all gynecologic malignancies were considered as a single group statistically significant difference was found comparing with the control group (p< 0.05), while this difference was not found with the benign diseases group. Conclusion: It was concluded that serum NSE levels has no any importance in clinical evaluation of early stage gynecologic malignancies, whereas SSA which is a nonspesific tumor marker is very useful in evaluating early stage ovarian cancers, and has a very limited value in clinical evaluation of early stage cervical cancers.">
