Sonuç: Antenatal takip sırasında tüm gebelerde erken dönemde serum toksoplazma antikorlarına bakılmalı ve risk altındaki grubu oluşturan seronegatif hastalarda her trimesterde antikorların tekrar kontrolü faydalı olacaktır.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the incidence of toxoplasmosis among patients who applied to Gazi University Medical School Hospital for antenatal follow-up. Institution: Gazi University Medical School, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Material and Methods: Serum toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibodies of all patients applying to our institution between April 1992-April 1993 are studied by indirect ELISA technique. Results: Seropositivity is found to be 31.2% among pregnant patients and new infection rate with toxoplasma was 0.35%. Conclusion: During antenatal follow-up, serum toxoplasma antibodies should be screened and in the seronegative patients who constitute the high risk group serological screening should be repeated.
