ABSTRACT
Cosmetic procedures of the breast, such as augmentation mammoplasty, reduction mammoplasty and mastopexy are among the most controversial surgical procedures, regarding the possible interference with several issues on breast cancer, breast-feeding and autoimmune disorders. In several worldwide clinical studies, the relationship be-tween cosmetic breast enhancement procedures and breast cancer, breast-feeding and autoimmune disorders has been investigated in the last two decades and no evidence has been found to suggest that these procedures are among the possible causes of the disor-ders mentioned above. In this article, we tried to summarize several issues on cos-metic breast enhancement procedures, such as augmentation mammoplasty, reduction mammoplasty and mastopexy; and to clarify the relationship of these procedures with breast cancer, autoimmune disorders and breast-feeding.
