ABSTRACT
Objective: To make comparison between tenoxicam+indomethacine (prostoglandin inhibitors) and ritodrine (β-sympathomimetic) in terms of efficiency, cost and complication and in the treatment of preterm labour. Institution: SSK Women's and Maternity Hospital, Ankara Materials and Methods: 60 cases diagnosed as having preterm labour in the SSK Women's and Maternity Hospital, Ankara were allocated randomly into two groups. that each has 30 cases. Tenoxicam+indomethacine were given to the first group. Ritodrine was given to the second group. The collected data was analysed through covariance analysis and student-t test. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between tenoxicam+indomethacine and ritodrine in the treatment of preterm labour (p> 0.05). Conclusion: No significant difference was seen between tenoxicam+indomethacine and ritodrine in terms of efficiency in the treatment of preterm labour, but the data showed that tenoxicam+indomethacine was superior to ritodrine when considered in terms of cost, application feasibility and potential complication. Key Words: Preterm labour, tenoxicam, ritodrine
